Development of the agricultural sector: Kara-Kulja District to be supplied with irrigation water

During a working visit to the Osh Region, President Sadyr Zhaparov met with residents of the Kara-Kulja District.

In his address, the Head of State noted that livestock farming is the main source of income for the district’s population.

“In your district, the total livestock population exceeds 226,000. Under the ‘Agricultural Financing – 14’ project, the volume of preferential loans amounted to 55 million soms. To date, the number of farmers and agricultural producers using preferential loans is increasing, and a decision has already been taken to allocate additional funds”, — said the President.

He noted that ensuring a supply of irrigation water is of key importance in the agricultural sector.

“This year, major projects to provide irrigation water will be implemented in the Kara-Kuldzhinsky District – via the ‘Kara-Guz – Kenesh’ and ‘Ak-Tektir’ canals. In addition, the preparation of documentation for the construction of pumping stations has been completed. Of the 55 villages in the district, 31 are supplied with clean drinking water. At the same time, the water supply systems in 24 villages require upgrading; design and preparatory work for construction is currently underway in 16 villages”, — emphasised Sadyr Zhaparov.

Turning to road infrastructure, the Head of State reported that, in addition to the “Myrza-Ake – Kara-Kulja” road, 65 kilometres of roads have been asphalted in the district. The repair and reconstruction of a further 40 kilometres is planned for this year.

“As for the construction of healthcare facilities funded by the national budget, a primary healthcare centre is currently being built in the village of Sharkyratma. Before meeting with you, I reviewed the plans for the reconstruction of parks and the stadium, and also took part in the opening of a new community and cultural centre. In addition, a number of schools, nurseries, additional buildings and sports halls are currently under construction”, — said Sadyr Zhaparov.

Speaking on education, the President emphasised that the main priorities are improving infrastructure, addressing staff shortages and raising the quality of education. He noted the need to provide schools with subject-specialist teachers and to systematically improve teachers’ professional qualifications, adding that laptops have already been distributed to teachers in the district to strengthen their material and technical resources.
