A 100-bed maternity hospital in Novopokrovka will cost 289 million KGS

In the village of Novopokrovka, in the Ysyk-Ata District of the Chui Region, major refurbishment work is nearing completion on the building of the former hospital, which is set to house the Chui Regional Maternity Hospital with 100 beds.

200 million KGS have been allocated from the state budget for the major refurbishment of the facility. A further 89 million KGS has been earmarked for the purchase of medical equipment. Thus, the total cost of the project, including equipment, will amount to 289 million KGS.

At present, a significant portion of the façade work has been completed, windows have been fitted, and interior finishing work is ongoing. Installation of services, ventilation systems and ceiling structures is also underway.

The project aims to create a modern infrastructure for providing obstetric care to pregnant women and women in labour in the Chui Region.

At present, the Chui Regional Maternity Hospital is housed in a building that was previously used as a nursery school. According to the Ministry of Health, the existing premises limit the ability to provide comprehensive specialist medical care.
