From mid-August, all taxi drivers are required to have licences

From mid-August 2025, all taxi drivers in Kyrgyzstan will be required to have licences. President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a law amending the law ‘On Licensing and Permit System’ adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on 22 January 2025.

The law sets limits on the validity of licences for passenger and international freight transport.

Earlier it was discussed that in order to obtain a licence, drivers will be obliged to provide a technical inspection, a patent and insurance, and those with right-hand drive will not be granted a licence.
