10/06/2026, 11:16President Sadyr Zaparov has amended Decree No. 5 of 29 January 2021 ‘On issues relating to the reform of the mining industry’.
Provisions stipulating that subsoil plots of national importance could only be developed by a national mining company with 100 per cent state ownership have been removed from the document.
The provision regarding the state’s share in the development of deposits not included in the register of subsoil areas of national importance, and the conditions for acquiring such a share, has also been repealed.
The relevant Decree No. 340 was signed on 2 October 2026. It will come into force seven days after its official publication.
The remaining provisions of the 2021 decree, including requirements to strengthen control over subsoil use, environmental safety, geological exploration, the proportion of local workers and the procurement of goods and services within Kyrgyzstan, are not repealed by this decree.
