11/04/2025, 12:40Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Zhaparov sharply criticized Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev for proposing to introduce a so-called “unlimited tariff” for electricity. The reason for this was an appeal by the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan to the population to switch to a new tariff plan.
The head of state said that such initiatives are unacceptable given the electricity shortage that the country faces every winter. According to him, an “unlimited tariff” could lead to social injustice and division among citizens based on income level, with wealthy consumers using more energy while the rest have to economize.
Sadyr Zhaparov ordered the immediate termination of this tariff and the adoption of measures to ensure equal and fair access to electricity for all citizens.
