09/03/2025, 16:44A meeting on supporting and developing small and medium-sized businesses was held in Bishkek, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev. Representatives from ministries, agencies, and financial institutions took part in the event.
According to the National Statistical Committee, there are 16,900 enterprises operating in the country, of which 15,900 are small and 1,000 are medium-sized. The number of individual entrepreneurs exceeded 600,000. The largest concentration of small businesses is in Bishkek, accounting for 70.1%. The SME sector accounts for 37% of the country's gross domestic product.
The First Deputy Prime Minister noted the steady growth of the Kyrgyz economy: in the first half of 2025, GDP increased by 11.7%, exceeding 711 billion KGS. To further support entrepreneurs, instructions have been given to develop existing programmes, expand access to credit and ensure transparency and stability in public administration.
