Deputy Prime Minister Erlist Akunbekov highlighted the growth in gross agricultural output and the development of irrigation infrastructure.
At the meeting, Sadyr Zhaparov listened to Erlist Akunbekov's report on the results of the real sector's work and priorities for 2026. According to him, agriculture accounts for about 10% of the country's GDP and provides employment for up to 20% of the economically active population.
The volume of gross agricultural output grew from 396.8 billion KGS in 2024 to 459.7 billion KGS in 2025, an increase of almost 63 billion KGS. Next year, the main focus will be on increasing productivity, modernising infrastructure and strengthening the competitiveness of products.
The head of the department noted the expansion of state support for the industry: 12.6 billion KGS were allocated for preferential lending in 2025, and the fleet of agricultural machinery grew to 92,000 units.
In the field of irrigation, an additional 4,455 hectares of irrigated land were put into operation last year, which is 22 times more than in 2024. 1.7 billion KGS have been allocated from the republican budget for these purposes, and work is underway on 41 design projects and 33 construction projects.
The supply of clean water to the population has also been improved: 40 rural settlements have gained access to drinking water, and more than 75,000 people are now supplied with water, with 3.7 billion KGS allocated for this purpose. Water supply systems are being built in 25 cities and 601 villages.
Erlist Akunbekov emphasised that comprehensive support, infrastructure modernisation and technological upgrades will transform the agricultural sector into a modern, competitive and market-oriented industry.
