06/03/2026, 13:17MP Baktybek Choybekov proposed changing the funding model for school repairs and maintenance, allocating funds based on building floor area rather than pupil numbers.
He put forward this initiative today at a parliamentary session during the ‘miscellaneous’ agenda item.
According to the MP, the current mechanism does not take into account the real needs of educational institutions. As an example, he cited a school in the Talas region with an area of 1,200 square metres, attended by 250 children. A total of just 80,000 KGS was allocated for the repair and maintenance of this facility.
Choibekov believes that the level of funding should depend on the floor area of the building, as maintenance costs are directly linked to the size of the facility.
