03/03/2025, 10:02Video calling and chat service Skype has officially confirmed its closure. In its X account, the company said the platform will cease to operate on 5 May 2025.
Users are encouraged to switch to Microsoft Teams using their Skype accounts. Microsoft assures that once logged into Teams, all chats and contacts will automatically migrate, allowing communication to continue without data loss.
Skype was founded in the early 2000s and has changed several owners throughout its history. In 2011, the service was acquired by Microsoft, and in 2016 the company began promoting Teams as the main platform for corporate communication.
