This relates to amendments to the law on renewable energy sources, which were signed on 3 April by Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov. The new requirement directly affects investors in solar and wind power stations.
Now, if a company is building, for example, a 100 MW solar power station, it must additionally install storage systems with a capacity of at least 30 MW. These systems allow the electricity generated to be stored and fed into the grid when necessary.
This measure is necessary due to the nature of solar and wind power generation. Electricity is generated unevenly; the sun does not shine at night, and the wind does not blow constantly. Storage systems help to smooth out these fluctuations.
