09/26/2024, 09:00The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) with government agencies of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries has analyzed the implementation of the program on consumer protection for 2023 and the first half of 2024.
Natalia Zhukova, Director of the EEC Department of Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures, noted that the program is a key mechanism for assessing and organizing work in this area.
According to research, over 60% of the Union's citizens positively assess the situation with their rights protection, which is 10% higher than on the start of the program in June 2022. Natalia Zhukova emphasized the importance of joint efforts of the states in protecting consumers and strengthening the EAEU internal market.
More than 56% of citizens highly appreciate the activities of state authorities in protecting consumer rights. Surveys have also demonstrated that 67% of citizens believe that the quality requirements for goods and services in the Union are always or often met, which indicates growing confidence in the market.
In 2023, about 40,000 events on informing and educating citizens were held and were attended by over 60 million people, were carried out. The theme for 2024 is “Consumer and Entrepreneur: Trust for Development”.
The program launched in 2022 is aimed to develop common approaches to consumer protection, educating citizens, organizing interaction between authorized bodies and settling cross-border disputes.
