Demand for the dollar on the interbank market with deferred settlements is declining

The interbank currency market in Kyrgyzstan has seen a decline in demand for foreign currency. This is evident from trading data for January 27–28.

On January 28, the total volume of transactions with the dollar decreased to $4 million, of which $2.5 million accounted for transactions with settlements on the day of conclusion and $1.5 million accounted for transactions with deferred settlements.

For comparison, a day earlier, on January 27, the trading volume was $3.5 million, with a less uniform demand structure. Only $300,000 accounted for transactions with settlement on the date of conclusion, and $3 million for transactions with later settlement.

Despite the decline in trading activity, the dollar exchange rate remained unchanged. Trading on both days opened and closed at 87.45 KGS per dollar.
