The cost of basic living expenses in Kyrgyzstan ranges from 8,300 to 9,600 KGS

The highest subsistence minimum in Kyrgyzstan in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded in the Jalal-Abad Region—an average of 9,609.64 KGS per capita per month. This is higher than in most regions of the country, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

In second place is Bishkek with 9,569.55 KGS, followed by the city of Osh with 9,282.49 KGS and the Naryn region with 9,087.82 KGS.

The lowest figures were recorded in Issyk-Kul Region—8,286.23 KGS—as well as in Talas Region—8,328.28 KGS—and Chui Region—8,427.97 KGS.

Looking at the structure of the subsistence minimum, food items traditionally account for the largest share of expenditures. For example, in Bishkek, they amount to 6,220 KGS, or nearly two-thirds of the total. Services account for 1,627 KGS, non-food goods for 1,531 KGS, and taxes for 191 KGS.

For the working-age population, the subsistence minimum is higher. In Bishkek, it amounted to 10,722 KGS, with 10,970 KGS for men and 10,689 KGS for women.

For pensioners, the figure in the capital stood at 8,475 KGS, and for children—8,119 KGS.

Regionally, the highest cost of living for the working-age population was recorded in Bishkek, while Jalal-Abad leads among the regions at 10,665 KGS.

The data shows that the gap between regions persists. The difference between the maximum and minimum subsistence levels is approximately 1,300 KGS.
