Judge of Osh City Court and prosecutor's office employee detained for bribery

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic, detained a judge of the Osh City Court and an employee of the Osh City Prosecutor's Office.

In the course of ongoing work to identify, prevent and suppress corruption in the judicial and prosecutorial system, it was established that Judge S.R.Sh. of the Osh City Court and employee I.S.K. of the Osh Prosecutor's Office had engaged in extortion, with the prosecutor's office employee acting as an intermediary.

Thus, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic submitted a statement to the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic requesting that measures be taken against S.R.Sh. and I.S.K., who conspired to extort $4,000 in exchange for a favourable decision in the applicant's criminal case being heard by Judge S.R.Sh. of the Osh City Court.

On 29 July 2025, a prosecutor's office employee, ‘I.S.K.,’ was caught red-handed after receiving money as a bribe from the applicant.

On the same day, when caught red-handed, the judge of the Osh City Court, S.R.Sh., fled to his apartment, where he burned part of the money he had previously received as a bribe in the bathroom. Forensic chemical and forensic technical and criminalistic examinations were appointed to investigate this fact, the results of which confirmed the presence of foreign banknotes in the form of US dollars.

On 29 August 2025, the Council of Judges of the Kyrgyz Republic agreed to bring criminal charges against Judge S.R.Sh.

Based on the results of the investigation, Judge S.R.Sh. of the Osh City Court and employee of the Osh Prosecutor's Office were charged under Article 343, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (extortion of a bribe) and were remanded in custody until the end of the investigation.
