Talas Province leads in terms of women's participation in the workforce in Kyrgyzstan

In 2024, the highest level of women's participation in the labour market was recorded in Talas Province — 62.8%, which is significantly higher than in other regions of the country. High levels of female participation were also observed in the capital Bishkek (57.4%) and Osh Region (50.8%). The lowest levels of participation were recorded in Batken Region (30.5%) and Osh City (29.7%).

Men remain more active in most regions. The leaders in terms of male labour force participation are the Osh region (82.4%), the Naryn and Talas regions (76% each), Bishkek (78.2%) and the city of Osh (75.3%).

The gap between men and women remains significant, but it is the Talas region that demonstrates the highest level of women's involvement in the economy, which experts attribute to the characteristics of the regional labour market and social environment.
