Kyrgyzstan may introduce driver's licenses for mopeds

On March 11, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh passed the second reading of a bill amending road safety legislation.

According to the document, a subcategory “A1” driver's license will be required to drive a moped.

During the discussion, deputies raised issues regarding the regulation of mopeds, which are actively used by courier delivery services. Parliamentarians noted that when implementing the law, it is necessary to take into account the interests of citizens working in this field so that the new requirements do not lead to job losses.

At the same time, deputies drew attention to the increase in the number of road accidents involving mopeds, scooters, and motorcycles. In their opinion, the introduction of driver's licenses and registration numbers for such vehicles could help reduce the number of accidents and violations on the roads.
