04/30/2026, 17:57The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan has drafted a resolution to expand the list of foreign currencies for which an official tenge exchange rate is set. It is proposed to increase the list from 39 to 48 currencies.
The need for these changes stems from the expansion of foreign trade and the growing number of trading partners. The plan is to include the currencies of Vietnam, Egypt, Israel, Indonesia, Qatar, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan and Romania.
The regulator notes that the decision is based on an analysis of trade turnover in recent years, the structure of settlements and requests from the business community. The draft also takes into account updates to legislation, including the new Constitution and existing codes.
The document has been put out for public consultation.
