Togo is considering the possibility of printing passports and currency in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev and Togo’s Prime Minister For Essozimna Gnassingbé visited the production facilities of the Uchkun Open Joint-Stock Company, where they were briefed on the production of the national currency and official documents.

The delegations were shown the mint, as well as the offset and binding shops, where printed materials, excise stamps, government documents, special forms, and license plates are produced. Technologies for fuel marking and quality control were presented separately.

Following the visit, the Togolese Prime Minister highly praised the level of production and noted that Kyrgyzstan had managed to create a modern infrastructure meeting international safety and quality standards in a short period of time. He also expressed Togo’s interest in practical cooperation, including the potential placement of orders for the printing of passports and even national currency.

Today, the Uchkun facility fully produces Kyrgyzstan’s key state-issued documents—from license plates and driver’s licenses to passports, ID cards, diplomas, and textbooks.

Foreign partners’ interest in these opportunities arose against the backdrop of the recent launch of domestic production of the national currency. Earlier, President Sadyr Japarov called this event historic, noting that Kyrgyzstan had begun printing the KGS independently for the first time, moving away from foreign contractors.
