Three border crossing points on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border will be temporarily closed from 30 April

At the initiative of the Chinese side, in connection with the celebration of Labour Day in China, temporary restrictions on the operation of border crossing points are being introduced along the Kyrgyz-Chinese section of the state border.

According to the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, from 30 April 2026, passage through a number of checkpoints will be temporarily suspended:

  • the ‘Irkesh-Tam – Road’ checkpoint will cease to allow the passage of persons, vehicles and goods from 22:00 (Bishkek time);
  • the ‘Torugart – Road’ border crossing point will cease operations from 20:00 (Bishkek time).
    Operations at these checkpoints will resume on 2 May 2026 from 08:00.

In addition, the ‘Bedel – Road’ checkpoint will be completely closed from 1 to 5 May 2026 and will resume operations on 6 May from 08:00.

During the period of restrictions, border patrols will not allow citizens, vehicles or goods to cross at these points.

The Border Service advises citizens and those engaged in foreign economic activity to take this information into account when planning journeys and transport across the state border.
