During the event, participants discussed the current migration situation in the Commonwealth countries, as well as cooperation between state bodies in implementing priority areas of migration policy.
Sultanov noted that since the EAEU Treaty came into force, labor migration within the Union has grown by more than a third, exceeding 1 million people last year. He presented the results of the Commission's monitoring of EAEU countries' legislation in the field of labor migration. The analysis showed that the Union states are implementing similar measures to attract qualified specialists and are actively introducing digital tools in the field of migration services.
“It is important to maintain a balance between controlling migration flows and protecting the rights of labor migrants. Any initiatives in this area must comply with the legal norms of the EAEU Treaty,” the minister said.
He also presented a new EEC brochure, “Employment and Social Security of Citizens of EAEU Member States in the Russian Federation,” which has been translated into the languages of the Union countries. Similar materials on other EAEU countries are planned to be published in the near future.
During the meeting, Sultanov held a series of working meetings with representatives of the migration authorities of the CIS countries. The focus was on exchanging experiences, joint initiatives, and preparing for future events aimed at developing a balanced and humane migration policy in the region.
