Fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan are rising, but switching to a bicycle has also become more expensive

Fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan have almost doubled over the past five years, whilst the cost of bicycles has risen more slowly. This is evident from consumer price indices, which use 2020 as the base year.

By 2025, the diesel fuel price index had reached 200.7. In effect, this means the cost has doubled compared to 2020. A-92 petrol showed a similar trend — an index of 196.2, which is also close to a twofold increase.

Bicycles saw a much more modest increase over the same period. The index for adult road bikes stood at 145.7. In other words, their cost rose by 45.7% compared to 2020.
