Prices of oils and fats in Kyrgyzstan rose by 2.7%

In June 2026, prices of oils and fats in Kyrgyzstan rose by 2.7%, contributing 0.08 percentage points to the overall inflation rate. This is stated in an analysis of price trends.

One of the key factors was the rise in vegetable oil prices on the global market. According to the FAO, in June the vegetable oil price index rose by 3.8% compared with May and was 23.3% higher than in the same month last year. This rise was driven by higher prices for palm and rapeseed oils, which more than offset the effect of falling soya oil prices.

Russia’s export policy exerted additional pressure on the market. In February, the export duty on sunflower oil to CIS countries rose by 2.1 per cent, in March by 3.9 per cent, and in April it increased 1.7-fold.

Although the Russian duty was reduced by a factor of 3.5 in May and June, and global sunflower oil prices stabilised, this has not yet been reflected in product prices in Kyrgyzstan.

As noted in the document, the retail market continues to sell previously imported consignments of goods purchased at higher prices. Due to the inertia of supply chains, the reduction in costs is not immediately reflected in retail prices; consequently, in June, the cost of oils and fats in the republic continued to rise.
