The "Ak-Suu" Republican Innovative Tourism Vocational Lyceum is set to become a base for training specialists needed for the construction of the ‘Ala-Too Resort’ ski cluster and other tourism projects across the country.
Work is continuing in the Issyk-Kul region on the creation of the "Ak-Suu" Republican Innovative Tourism Vocational Lyceum, which is set to become one of the key training centres for the tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan.
Deputy Minister of Education Albert Makhmetkulov and Head of the Department of Initial Vocational Education Ainura Kuseinova familiarised themselves with the progress of the project during a working visit. The director of the college, Banur Abdiyeva, presented the institution’s development plans and spoke about preparations for the start of admissions.
Representatives of the "Ala-Too Resort" project and the Wuhan Central Group for Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation also took part in the discussion.
The creation of an innovative tourism lyceum forms part of the reform of the vocational education system. As early as 2026, plans are in place to lay the foundations for Kyrgyzstan’s first international-standard tourism school, focused on training specialists for the tourism and service sectors.
The need for the project stems from the active development of the country’s tourism infrastructure. A large-scale project for the "Ala-Too Resort" ski cluster is being implemented in the Ak-Suu district, which will require a significant number of specialists in the fields of the hotel industry, catering, tourism and guest services.
It is expected that the college will provide training not only for ‘Ala-Too Resort’, but also for other tourism projects in the country. The implementation of the initiative will also contribute to the creation of new jobs, increased youth employment and a reduction in labour migration.
An important part of the project will be international cooperation with Austria. The agreements reached provide for the participation of international experts in the development of educational programmes, the training of teachers and the introduction of global best practices in the field of tourism education.
It is planned that the college will be housed in a modern, innovative educational building, constructed in accordance with Austrian standards for ergonomics and environmental sustainability. It will be equipped with SMART classrooms, a culinary studio, a training bar and restaurant, as well as an IT training centre for students’ practical training.
The project’s initiators expect the Ak-Suu Republican Innovative Tourism Vocational Lyceum to become a key element in training personnel for Kyrgyzstan’s growing tourism industry and to help provide the sector with qualified specialists.
