Participants in the “Social Contract” program will be taught how to earn more from agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with Kyrgyz Agroholding, is launching a series of training seminars for specialists working with participants in the “Social Contract” program.

The training will take place at the national level and will be aimed at improving the effectiveness of projects implemented by recipients of government support.

The focus will be on selecting promising business areas, preparing business plans, financial literacy, organizing feed supplies, veterinary services, product promotion, and the development of cooperatives. In addition, participants will be introduced to digital platforms for reporting and monitoring projects.

Special emphasis will be placed on the development of agricultural sectors—livestock farming, crop production, and agricultural processing. This is because the agricultural sector remains the primary focus for program participants.

As a reminder, the “Social Contract” program has been in effect in Kyrgyzstan since 2022 and aims to lift low-income families out of poverty by helping them develop their own businesses. Over the past three years, more than 48,000 social contracts have been signed in the country.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, approximately 73.3% of all projects are implemented in the agricultural sector. As a result of the program, over 57,000 jobs have been created, and living conditions have improved for more than 228,000 people.

At the same time, the overwhelming majority of program participants are women, accounting for 94.2% of the total. Many families have been able to transition from receiving social benefits to running their own businesses, and the incomes of some participants have already exceeded 1 million KGS per year.

In 2025, the amount of one-time government assistance under the program was increased to 150,000 KGS. For 2026, the authorities plan to sign another 13,300 social contracts, with more than 2 billion KGS allocated for their implementation.
