Kurmanjan Datka Street Reopens Six Weeks Ahead of Schedule After Reconstruction

In Bishkek, the reconstruction of the six-lane section of Kurmanzhan Datka Street, from Chui Avenue to Frunze Street, has been completed ahead of schedule. Traffic was opened on 10 September, 50 days ahead of the contract deadline.

Now, traffic along the entire length of Kurmanzhan Datka Street, from Chui Avenue to Zhibek Zholu Avenue, has been fully restored.

Mayor Aibek Junushaliev inspected the reconstructed section and spoke with residents. The residents thanked him for creating more comfortable conditions, and the mayor responded by saying that the municipality would fulfil all its obligations made during the dismantling of the obstructing objects.

As part of the reconstruction:

  • the heating mains on the section from Frunze Street to Saliev Street were completely renovated;
  • the width of the carriageway was increased from 12–16 to 21 metres;
  • two layers of asphalt with a total thickness of 11 cm were laid;
  • new kerbs and road signs were installed.

Additionally, the following is planned:

  • construction of three-metre-wide pavements;
  • construction of a two-metre-wide cycle path;
  • installation of irrigation channels;
  • creation of a green zone.

The mayor also instructed to speed up work on sidewalks, bike paths, bus stops and street lighting.

Initially, the completion of the reconstruction was planned for 30 October, but the work was completed ahead of schedule.
