06/28/2026, 18:00In January–March 2026, Kyrgyzstan saw an acceleration in inflation compared to the same period last year. The consumer price index for all goods and services stood at 103.3% compared to December 2025, whereas a year earlier it was at 101.8%. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.
The largest price increase was recorded in the services sector—105.3%—which is significantly higher than the 2025 figure (101.1%). Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 4.3%, for alcohol and tobacco products by 3.1%, and for non-food goods by 0.5%.
The rise in food prices was driven by higher costs for a number of staple foods. Since the beginning of the year, fresh meat prices have risen by 5.2%, including horse meat (up 6.2%), beef (up 5.3%), and lamb (up 5.1%).
Prices for dairy products, cheese, and eggs rose by 8.9%, for fresh vegetables by 14%, and for fresh fruit by 7.7%. Granulated sugar also became 2.2% more expensive, potatoes by 2.9%, and vegetable oils by 1.8%.
At the same time, rice prices fell by 0.2% over the quarter, while flour prices showed mixed trends: premium-grade flour decreased by 0.1%, while first-grade flour increased by 0.2%.
A regional breakdown shows that the highest price increase was recorded in the Osh Region—7.2%—where prices for services, food, and non-food goods rose. The largest increase in prices for alcohol and tobacco products was observed in the Issyk-Kul Region—6.5%.
The average consumer price for premium-grade flour in March 2026 was 73.94 som per kilogram, compared to 69.34 som a year earlier.
