Services and food products have become the main driver of price increases in Kyrgyzstan

In January–March 2026, Kyrgyzstan saw an acceleration in inflation compared to the same period last year. The consumer price index for all goods and services stood at 103.3% compared to December 2025, whereas a year earlier it was at 101.8%. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.

The largest price increase was recorded in the services sector—105.3%—which is significantly higher than the 2025 figure (101.1%). Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 4.3%, for alcohol and tobacco products by 3.1%, and for non-food goods by 0.5%.

The rise in food prices was driven by higher costs for a number of staple foods. Since the beginning of the year, fresh meat prices have risen by 5.2%, including horse meat (up 6.2%), beef (up 5.3%), and lamb (up 5.1%).

Prices for dairy products, cheese, and eggs rose by 8.9%, for fresh vegetables by 14%, and for fresh fruit by 7.7%. Granulated sugar also became 2.2% more expensive, potatoes by 2.9%, and vegetable oils by 1.8%.

At the same time, rice prices fell by 0.2% over the quarter, while flour prices showed mixed trends: premium-grade flour decreased by 0.1%, while first-grade flour increased by 0.2%.

A regional breakdown shows that the highest price increase was recorded in the Osh Region—7.2%—where prices for services, food, and non-food goods rose. The largest increase in prices for alcohol and tobacco products was observed in the Issyk-Kul Region—6.5%.

The average consumer price for premium-grade flour in March 2026 was 73.94 som per kilogram, compared to 69.34 som a year earlier.
