Contractors in Bishkek have been ordered to fix defects on recently repaired roads

During a meeting with residents of the Leninsky District, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev reported that, as of the end of 2025, 30 defects had been identified on previously repaired sections of road.

According to him, contractors are required to repair the identified defects at their own expense within three years of the completion of repair work. Once the defects are fixed, the warranty period is extended again.

The mayor emphasized that the city government has tightened requirements for contractors to improve the quality of roadwork.

The meeting with residents of the Leninsky District took place at the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn and lasted about seven hours. More than 300 people attended the event.

Residents raised issues regarding road infrastructure, gasification of residential areas, land amnesty, the construction of ramps, as well as the implementation of the Bishkek Master Plan through 2050 and the renovation of dilapidated housing.

The mayor specifically clarified that the Master Plan does not serve as a basis for demolishing buildings or carrying out renovations without taking residents’ opinions into account. Following the discussions, the parties confirmed their readiness to implement the discussed initiatives.
