Issues related to identifying sources of air pollution were discussed in Bishkek

A meeting between Bishkek Deputy Mayor Ramiz Aliyev and a delegation from the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD), led by the head of the agency, Mr. Pak Chung-ku, took place in the meeting room of the capital's city hall.

The main topic of discussion was the identification of key sources of air pollution in the capital and the need for a new comprehensive study in this area.

Deputy Mayor Ramiz Aliyev noted that smog remains one of the most pressing problems for Bishkek.

‘One of the serious problems facing our city is smog. Bishkek needs a new, modern study of air quality. That is why we invited experts to study the current situation and identify the main sources of pollution’, — he stressed.

UNOSD representatives expressed their gratitude for the invitation and gave a presentation on the methodology of international air quality studies used in the organisation's projects.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their hope for further fruitful cooperation.
