10/23/2026, 09:01Kyrgyzstan and the United Nations World Food Program intend to continue their joint efforts within the framework of the national Food Security and Nutrition Program for 2025–2030. The main focus will be on developing school meal programs and expanding food assistance to socially vulnerable groups.
Deputy Prime Minister Ulan Mamatkanov and Acting Executive Director of the UN-WFP Karl Skau discussed issues of further cooperation at a meeting on October 22.
The parties explored opportunities to develop the school feeding system and provide targeted support to low-income families, people with disabilities, senior citizens, and residents of hard-to-reach communities.
Karl Skau reaffirmed the UN WFP’s interest in continuing joint projects, including the launch of new pilot programs to ensure adequate nutrition for citizens in need.
Cooperation will continue within the framework of the Food Security and Nutrition Program for 2025–2030, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers in December 2024.
The document calls not only for an increase in domestic production of staple foods but also for making them more affordable for the population, particularly socially vulnerable groups. A separate component of the program focuses on improving the quality of nutrition and reducing the risks of diseases caused by an inadequate or unsafe diet.
