The idea was put forward by Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister for Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC. The essence of the proposal is to establish a regular format for communication between the organisations in order to synchronise energy projects and avoid duplicating each other’s work.
The focus is on practical matters: how countries will ensure energy security, develop the electricity sector, modernise grids, implement digital solutions and carry out joint infrastructure projects.
According to Kozhoshev, the organisations face similar challenges and problems, so a single platform could speed up the coordination of decisions and make cooperation more effective.
Put simply, the proposal is to establish a permanent ‘coordination forum’ where energy ministries and international bodies can regularly discuss joint projects, rather than working in isolation.
During his visit to Bishkek, Kozhoshev also took part in the opening of the ‘Energy Expo Kyrgyzstan – SCO 2026’ exhibition. The exhibition showcases new technologies in the energy sector – ranging from power generation equipment to solutions for grid modernisation and environmentally friendly projects.
Representatives from SCO member states, international organisations, investors and experts from the energy sector are taking part in the discussions.
