Fire safety inspections are being carried out at markets and shopping centres in Bishkek

Inspections of public buildings are continuing in four districts of Bishkek. Experts are assessing compliance with fire safety requirements and the condition of evacuation systems.

In the Leninsky District, the Osh Market, the ‘Kiyal’ and ‘Elit Stroy’ markets were inspected; in the Sverdlovsky District, the ‘Madina’ market; and in the Oktyabrsky District, the ‘Orto-Say’ market. In the Pervomaisky District, ‘Bishkek Park’ and the ‘Aziz’ market were inspected.

Experts are checking emergency exits and escape routes, fire alarm systems, the availability of fire-fighting equipment, the condition of electrical networks and whether emergency vehicles can access the premises unhindered.

Deadlines for rectifying any identified breaches are being set, and those responsible are being identified. Awareness-raising sessions are also being held with managers and tenants.

Inspections of public facilities in the districts of Bishkek are continuing.
