    Bishkek introduces voucher mechanism for financing preschool education

    A pilot project is being implemented in the capital to introduce a voucher mechanism for financing preschool education services for children from socially vulnerable and low-income families. The initiative aims to increase the availability of private kindergartens for low-income families.

    According to the mayor's office, social commissions of district administrations have already held 14 meetings as part of the project. To date, 154 online applications have been received, of which 80 have been approved. This is 52% of the total number of applications submitted.

    By district:

    • Sverdlovsky: 85 applications, 35 approved (41%);
    • Pervomaisky: 30 applications, all 30 approved (100%);
    • Leninsky: 10 out of 17 applications approved (59%);
    • Oktyabrsky: 22 applications, 5 approved (23%).

    A total of 200 vouchers have been allocated for the pilot project in Bishkek. Thus, 40% of the planned number has been distributed so far.

    The project is currently being implemented. If the pilot project is successful, the mechanism may be scaled up to other regions of the country.
