    Two new reservoirs are under construction in Issyk-Kul oblast

    In the Issyk-Kul region, on the territory of the aiyl okmotu “Kun-Chygysh” and “Tort-Kul”, active construction of the strategically important Uch-Korgon reservoir is underway. The object is located on a wetland area surrounded by mountains on three sides, which makes it geographically favorable. The area of the site is 70 hectares.

    After completion of construction, the reservoir will provide irrigation water to 4 thousand 113 hectares of agricultural land, including the lands of Ton, Kun-Chygysh, Tort-Kul and B. Mambetov ayil. Mambetov aiyl aimaks. In addition, 817 hectares of new lands will be developed and water supply will be improved for another 2 thousand hectares experiencing deficit of irrigation.

    The designed volume of the reservoir is 4.3 million cubic meters. The outlet is being constructed of monolithic reinforced concrete and will provide water supply up to 17.7 m³/sec. At the moment 85% of construction works have been completed.

    In addition, in Bolot Mambetov village, in the Ak-Sai valley at the “Chokmor-Ata” site, construction of another reservoir has started. Its task is to provide irrigation water to 1,854 hectares of farmland. Today, 260 hectares remain irrigated due to water shortage. After completion of the project, another 150 hectares will be irrigated additionally, and the total improvement of water supply will affect 700-750 hectares.

    The volume of the second reservoir will be 1.4 million cubic meters.

    Implementation of both projects will be an important step in solving the problem of irrigation water shortage and will make a significant contribution to the development of agriculture in Ton district.
