In the Issyk-Kul Region, 1,200 hectares of low-productivity pastureland are to be improved

In the Issyk-Kul Region, work began in 2026 to improve 1,184 hectares of low-productivity pastureland. The measures are aimed at increasing land productivity and strengthening the forage base for livestock farming.

A total of 22,074 kilograms of pasture grass seeds were delivered to the region’s districts and the city of Balykchy to carry out the work. These include 4,976 kilograms of meadow fescue, 3,419 kilograms of smooth brome, 3,419 kilometres of pasture ryegrass and 10,260 kilograms of sainfoin.

The seeds are currently being sown using mechanised methods. This allows them to be distributed evenly across the plots and ensures that the planned work is carried out on schedule.

It is expected that these measures will help to restore vegetation cover, increase the productivity of natural forage land and strengthen the forage base for livestock farming.
The work is being carried out by the Service for Veterinary Affairs, Livestock Development, Pastures and Forage in collaboration with local authorities.
