08/13/2026, 09:30The Department of Environmental Monitoring at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision carried out an air quality assessment in Kara-Balta and the village of Novo-Nikolaevka following complaints from local residents.
Experts took air samples on 40 Let Kyrgyzstana Street, Lugovaya Street, Tolyatti Street, Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, Toktogula Street and in the Sambek uulu of Omurala in Kara-Balta, as well as on Moskovskaya Street in the village of Novo-Nikolaevka. The results of the investigations revealed that the maximum permissible concentration of nitrogen oxide had been exceeded at two locations: on 40 Years of Kyrgyzstan Street in Kara-Balta, the level was 3.9 times higher than the norm, and on Moskovskaya Street in Novo-Nikolaevka, it was 1.9 times higher. No exceedances were recorded at the other locations investigated.
Nitrogen oxides are among the main pollutants of ambient air. They are generally produced during the combustion of fuel and may be linked to emissions from industrial plants, the operation of boiler houses, heavy road traffic and other sources involving high-temperature combustion. The final survey reports have been forwarded to the relevant authorities so that the necessary measures can be taken and the source of the pollution identified.
