08/29/2026, 20:43In 2025, there were an average of 10.2 employees per registered organisation in Kyrgyzstan’s tourism sector. A year earlier, the figure stood at 8.4. Thus, the average number of employees per organisation rose by 21.4 per cent.
At the same time, the number of tourism organisations fell by 5.4 per cent — from 1,312 to 1,241. However, the average headcount rose by 14.8 per cent — from 10,974 to 12,601 people.
The average workforce in cafés and restaurants increased particularly significantly. In 2024, there were around 10.4 employees per establishment, rising to 13.6 in 2025. This represented growth of over 31 per cent.
In hotels, the average number of staff rose to 19.6 per establishment, or by approximately 25 per cent. Meanwhile, the number of hotels fell from 142 to 137, whilst the number of employees rose from 2,221 to 2,679.
A similar situation was observed among travel agencies. Their number fell by 8.1 per cent – from 705 to 648 – whilst the number of employees rose by 13 per cent to 1,945. As a result, there were on average three employees per agency, compared with 2.4 a year earlier.
In leisure facilities, the average number of staff remained virtually unchanged at around 15. In sanatoriums and health resorts, it rose to 58.1 staff members, whilst in nature parks, botanical gardens and nature reserves, it rose to 29 staff members.
Overall, the statistics point to a concentration of employment in a smaller number of organisations.
