Kyrgyzstan has begun issuing new biometric passports

From 3 November 2025, Kyrgyz citizens can obtain 2025 biometric passports with an updated design and high security features.

The new generation of passports contain:

two transparent windows on the data page, including a window in the form of a Kyrgyz ornament;
a cryptographic chip and UV printing;
laser engraving of personal data;
more than 30 security features of levels 1-2 and a significant number of level 3 features;

Each visa page illustrates objects from all regions of the country and historical and cultural values.

The exchange of documents is voluntary, and old passports remain valid until their expiry date.

The new passport will improve migration control, protection against counterfeiting and the fight against cross-border crime.
