Low-yield pastures are being developed in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, low-yield pastures are being developed and incorporated into agricultural production. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.

The country has more than 600,000 hectares of low-productive pastures that need to be developed and incorporated into agricultural production in order to ensure food security, improve the living conditions of the local population, reduce unemployment, and implement climate change mitigation measures.

A mandatory condition for obtaining low-productivity pastures for use is to increase the productivity of these lands.

One of the key conditions for obtaining such land for use is to increase its productivity. Those wishing to obtain a plot must submit an application to the district state administration at the location of the land. The application must specify the category and area of the plot and attach a technical and economic justification for its development.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry recommends using such land for the development of horticulture and agroforestry by planting fruit and berry crops, seedlings and seedlings.

There are preferential lending programmes in place to support agricultural producers. Under the Agricultural Credit Project (ACP), financing is available at 6% per annum. The funds can be used to purchase seedlings, install drip irrigation systems, fencing, purchase fertilisers, build mini-workshops and refrigerators, as well as replenish working capital for export activities.

There is also the ‘Agricultural Financing - 13’ project, which provides preferential loans for the creation, development and expansion of crop production, including the cultivation of fruit and berries.

To obtain financing, please contact the regional branches of Eldik Bank and Ayyl Bank.

For more information on the location of low-productivity pastures, please contact the district agricultural development departments of the Ministry of Agriculture.
