07/31/2026, 10:14The Service for Veterinary Affairs, Livestock Development, Pastures and Fodder has summarised its work for the first half of 2026. Over the six-month period, as part of disease prevention efforts across the country, veterinary measures were carried out on 14.26 million head of livestock, enabling the target to be met by 110 per cent.
One of the key achievements was the re-approval by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) of Kyrgyzstan’s foot-and-mouth disease control programme. In addition, the identification of farm animals is continuing: 2.344 million head of cattle, 553,400 horses and 3,500 pigs are registered in the state system. In the first half of the year alone, more than 489,000 animals were identified.
The ministry has also continued its work to develop the sector’s export potential. Currently, 45 Kyrgyz enterprises are authorised to export products to China, 71 to European Union countries, 54 to Uzbekistan, 19 to Russia and 13 to Turkey. At the same time, the sector is undergoing digitalisation: since June, the ‘Tulpar’ information system has been integrated with the Russian ‘Mercury’ system, and a geoinformation system for monitoring the epizootic situation has been launched.
