07/31/2026, 12:37A project to support agricultural cooperatives and develop organic farming is continuing in the Osh region. As part of the UN World Food Programme’s (WFP) ‘Support for Cooperatives’ initiative, farmers will be helped to introduce greenhouse production and switch to organic farming methods.
Specialists from the Department of Processing Industry and Organic Agriculture, together with the Agency for the Development of Initiatives, held meetings with cooperatives in the Nookat and Chon-Alai districts. The cooperatives participating in the project are ‘Zhar-Bashy’, ‘Chon-Alai Potato Production’, ‘Chon-Alai Agro’, ‘NUKOK’, ‘Sharip-Ata’ and ‘Kyrgyz-Ata Almasy’.
As part of the project, each cooperative is set to receive a 400-square-metre greenhouse, a 70-square-metre site for the production of vermicompost, and training seminars on organic farming. The ministry expects that the implementation of the project will increase the production of environmentally friendly produce and strengthen the capacity of local agricultural co-operatives.
