In Kyrgyzstan, the grain harvest fell by 14 per cent despite an increase in the area sown

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan harvested 1.79 million tonnes of grain crops (excluding pulses, rice and buckwheat), which is 14.2 per cent less than the previous year. At the same time, the area harvested increased by more than 6,000 hectares.

According to statistics from the National Statistics Committee, the area harvested for grain increased from 599,500 to 605,900 hectares. However, the gross harvest fell from 2.09 million to 1.79 million tonnes.

At the same time, the average yield also fell — from 34.6 to 29.3 centner per hectare.

The largest volume of grain was still harvested in the Chui Region — 629.9 thousand tonnes; however, compared with 2024, this figure fell by almost a third. An increase in gross harvest was recorded in the Osh, Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.

The statistics cover cereal crops, excluding pulses, rice and buckwheat.
