10/17/2025, 11:21The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with Kyrgyzstan's national postal operator Kyrgyz Post, has presented a new series of postage stamps dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the FAO.
The unique series consists of three stamps depicting children in national dress. The artistic concept of the series successfully combines the theme of agriculture, which is the basis of food security, with the rich cultural traditions and hospitality of the people of Kyrgyzstan. At the suggestion of FAO staff in Kyrgyzstan, the young heroes of the stamps were given symbolic names: Telegey - boundless space, Bereke - abundance and Bakyt - happiness.
A ceremony to cancel the stamps was held in Bishkek as part of an event dedicated to World Food Day. The ceremony was attended by FAO representative in Kyrgyzstan Oleg Guchgeldiev and Deputy Director General of Kyrgyz Post Uulzhan Masianova.
«This special issue of postage stamps is not only a tribute to FAO's 80-year history of fighting hunger, but also a wonderful way to reflect the deep connection between cultural heritage, agriculture and sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan», — said Oleg Guchgeldiev, FAO representative in Kyrgyzstan. The names Telegey, Bereke and Bakyt represent our common wishes for prosperity, abundance and happiness for every family in Kyrgyzstan. We are delighted that this art form has enabled us to communicate our values».
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) celebrated 80 years of working to eradicate hunger, transform agri-food systems and promote inclusive and sustainable rural development.
«We are honoured to be part of this significant international project,’ said Uulzhan Masianova, Deputy Director General of Kyrgyz Post. "The issue of stamps dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the FAO allows us not only to support the philatelic movement in the country, but also to clearly demonstrate the uniqueness and beauty of Kyrgyzstan to the whole world. We are confident that this series will take its rightful place in the collections of philatelists around the world».
The issued postage stamps will be available at Kyrgyz Post offices throughout the country. In addition, for the convenience of international collectors, they will be placed on the largest electronic platforms for philatelists.
