09/11/2026, 16:20For the first time in the history of its independence, Kyrgyzstan has produced 20- and 50-KGS banknotes of its national currency within the country. This was announced by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Previously, KGS banknotes had been produced outside Kyrgyzstan for over 30 years. Work on establishing domestic production of the national currency was carried out by the National Bank in accordance with the President’s instructions.
The regulator noted that the production of the first banknotes within the country marked an important step towards strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s economic independence and state sovereignty.
The event coincides with the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.
