08/30/2025, 09:00The President of Kyrgyzstan signed a decree introducing a state monopoly on training medical professionals in the country from August 28, 2025.
The Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev has been granted the exclusive right to train, retrain, and upgrade the qualifications of doctors, pharmacists, and scientific personnel. The academy has been granted the status of a system-forming university and will be subordinate to the Ministry of Health.
The aim of the innovation is to improve the quality of training for specialists, strengthen the material and technical base of educational institutions, and focus scientific research on priority areas of healthcare.
At the same time, the legal status of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin will be preserved within the framework of intergovernmental agreements.
