Almost 2,300 small and medium-sized companies opened in Kyrgyzstan over the course of a year

The number of small and medium-sized enterprises in Kyrgyzstan has grown by 13.5%. According to official statistics, as of 1 July this year, there were 19,109 small and medium-sized companies operating in the country, compared to 16,832 a year earlier.

The largest increase was recorded in Bishkek, where the number of enterprises rose from 11,464 to 13,397, an increase of almost 1,933 companies. Significant growth was also recorded in the Chui region, from 1,467 to 1,526 enterprises, and in the Osh region, from 507 to 563.

Thus, there continues to be a high territorial concentration of business in Bishkek and the Chui region, which account for more than 80% of all companies in the country.

Of the total number of enterprises, the majority (94.7%) are small companies, which currently number 18,094, while the share of medium-sized enterprises grew from 877 to 1,015.

It should be added that small and medium-sized enterprises together provide jobs for 113,100 people, which is 12,200 more than a year ago (100,900).
