A goods traceability system is being introduced in the Kyrgyz Republic. What do businesses need to know?

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the operating procedures for the goods traceability system. It will enable the state to track the movement of specific goods imported into Kyrgyzstan from countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The system will apply only to goods included in a special list drawn up by the Eurasian Economic Commission. For businesses, this means that when importing, selling or moving such goods, they will have to record these transactions in the system and ensure the accuracy of the data.

By 1 October 2026, businesses must reconcile the virtual stock levels of goods in the system with the actual stock levels in their warehouses. Goods purchased for use as fixed assets and not intended for resale will be exempt.

For ordinary consumers, there are unlikely to be any direct changes. However, the system should make the movement of goods more transparent: it will be easier for the state to identify illegal imports and goods sold without being recorded. In the long term, this may reduce the proportion of counterfeit goods, but for businesses it also means additional accounting and reporting obligations.

The decree came into force on 1 September 2026.
