Not only commercial transactions are prohibited, but also any form of coercion to donate. The document emphasizes that donation is permitted only on a voluntary and gratuitous basis, and any attempts to trade organs are punishable by law.
Donors can only be adults of legal age who are genetically related to the recipient (author's note — the patient who needs a transplant), such as parents, children, siblings, grandparents, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other blood relatives.
According to the approved regulations, kidneys, part of the liver, and bone marrow are subject to transplantation in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, organ transplant operations are only permitted in state healthcare organizations, namely: the Bishkek State Hospital of Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship named after R. T. Erdogan, the National Surgical Center named after M. M. Mamakeev, the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, and the Medical Center at Osh State University.
