The former director of the capital's thermal power plant has become the new deputy mayor of Bishkek

Personnel appointments have been made in the Bishkek City Hall to ensure reliable and timely preparations for the autumn-winter period of 2025–2026.

Nurgazy Kurmanbekov has been appointed deputy mayor in charge of fuel and energy issues.

Since 2002, Nurgazy Kurmanbekov has held key positions at the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant, a branch of OJSC Electric Power Plants (currently MP Bishkek Thermal Power Plant), where he gained significant experience in the field of heat and power engineering.

From 24 June 2024 to the present, he has been the director of the municipal enterprise Bishkek Thermal Power Plant.

In appointing him to the position, the mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliev, outlined the priority tasks and emphasised the need for strict compliance with the law and the principles of transparency in the work in light of recent events.

«Work must be carried out strictly within the framework of the law. In the event of violations, even past achievements will not be an excuse and will not help to avoid responsibility», — the mayor said.

A new head of the municipal enterprise Bishkek Thermal Power Plant has also been appointed. Nurlan Kuldzhigachev, who previously held the position of deputy head of reliability and safety at the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant, has been appointed to the post.

The relevant orders have been signed by the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliyev.
