07/27/2026, 11:21In the Nookat District of the Osh Region, construction of the Karimberdi Canal is nearing completion; this will enable around 1,000 hectares of land to be brought into agricultural use. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.
The project is being built in the Karimberdi area within the T. Kulatov Aiyl Aymak. The canal is 16 km long. It is scheduled to come into operation in 2027.
The total estimated cost of the project is 850 million KGS.
The ministry also reported that, as part of the development of the irrigation system, pipes have already been procured for the installation of drip irrigation across an area of 380 hectares. Installation of the equipment will begin in the coming days.
Once the project is complete, the plan is to establish perennial orchards on the reclaimed land, organise the cultivation of organic fruit and vegetables, and develop their export.
It is expected that the project will expand the area of irrigated land, improve the efficiency of agricultural production and boost the export potential of the region’s agricultural sector.
