An international educational project involving investors is being launched in Osh

Plans are underway to build a new branch of the Oxford International School in Osh. This has been announced by the city council.

The project is the result of systematic efforts by Osh City Council to attract investors. Mayor Zhanarbek Akayev noted that attracting investment in education and creating modern facilities for pupils is one of the council’s priorities.

The new school will be a five-storey building with capacity for 850 pupils.  Teaching will be based on the international Cambridge IGCSE and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme curricula. These programmes offer graduates extensive opportunities for admission without entrance exams to around 140 educational institutions worldwide.

The mayor emphasised that the opening of such international educational institutions will boost competition in the city and raise the quality of education to a new level. The project will also make a significant contribution to addressing the shortage of schools.

The mayor noted that Osh is the country’s second-largest city, and the development of educational infrastructure is a priority. He called on leading educational organisations in Central Asia and worldwide to invest in Osh, stating that the city council is ready to provide comprehensive support.

As part of the project, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Although the new school will operate on a private basis, it will become an international educational centre aimed at improving the quality of education in the city, addressing the shortage of schools and expanding opportunities for young people.
